Voici un projet plus abordable, une Trans Am 1979, toute restaurée, sans les toits en "T" de couleur Nocturne Blue :

La description :

Inside every tough looking car guy is a starry-eyed kid who loves bright colors, gets excited by loud noise and has a serious need for speed. These qualities are branded on our psyche right next to eating and sleeping, and eventually come to define who we are and how we spend a large part of our lives. Whether it’s because our parents had us outside turning wrenches at a very young age, or because the heroes we look up to always made quick getaways in killer four wheel hardware, or simply the freedom a car and an open road represent; there’s just nothing quite like the feeling of driving a sinister, tight handling sports car with a whole lot of motor under the hood. This 1979 Trans Am, freshly restored from its numbers matching, W72 4-speed drivetrain to its new cloth interior and slick 17 inch wheels, is a super cool F2 that mixes plenty of old school attitude with consistent gains in value. Looking for an excellent opportunity to get back in touch with your child AND make a little money down the road? This Trans Am is your ticket!

Included with this sale is a copy of the car’s original window sticker which lists the following optional equipment:

L78: 6.6 litre 400 cubic inch 4-barrel V8 engine ($90)
C60: Custom air conditioning ($529)
AK1: Custom color-keyed belts ($23)
A90: Remote control decklid release ($24)
C49: Electric rear window defroster ($99)
TR9: Lamp group ($19)
B80: Roof drip molding ($24)
B85: Window sill moldings ($26)
U75: Power antenna ($66)
AU3: Power door locks ($86)
A31: Power windows ($132)
V02: Super cooling radiator ($32)
UN9: Radio accommodation package ($10)
WS6: Special performance package ($434)
CD4: Controlled cycle windshield wipers ($38)
B18: Custom velour trim group ($150)
TOTAL VEHICLE OPTIONS: $1,782

Assembled at GM’s Norwood, Ohio manufacturing facility, this super clean, 1979 Pontiac Trans Am was shipped to Allen Brown Motors in Buffalo, New York on February 27th of 1979. Recently, the car benefitted from a $35K frame up restoration which completely freshened its engine compartment, completely replaced its correct Blue Cloth interior, and covered its solid rust free panels in a brilliant coat of correct GM code 29 Nocturne Blue urethane. Naturally, the cars panels were straightened and aligned to better than factory condition; and today, it displays a solid silhouette that features narrow panel gaps and excellent finish work. On top of the glossy metallic paint, a menacing blue and gold ‘screaming chicken’ hood graphic perfectly complements a full outfit of tri-tone Trans Am decals which let even the most clueless by-standers know that they’re staring at one awesome car!

It’s always nice to see a late model second generation Trans Am that isn’t black and gold. And even though the Special Edition cars were always the most memorable ‘birds, they eventually became dated. By comparison, cars like this blue Trans Am maintained their integrity, and thanks to a subdued monochromatic body, still look modern even today. Up front, a slick and pliable urethane bumper hangs four pristine headlights above large dual air intakes which, while still being instantly identifiable as Pontiacs familiar split grille face, give the car much more presence. Behind that front bumper, a traditional T48 shaker hood borders like-new stainless trimmed glass and proudly displays “T/A 6.6” denoting a rare and optional W72 Pontiac engine. At the sides of the car, bright blue and gold “Trans Am” call outs combine with two tier marker lights, metal air extractors, B-pillar ‘screaming chicken’ decals and B97 rear wheel air deflectors to give the car a detailed and aggressive look. And at the top of the car, optional B80 chrome drip rails combine with chrome B-pillar trim to highlight a stiff hardtop roof. At the back of the car, an optional C49 electrically defrosted rear window sits above a third gold laced “Trans Am” call out which spans a correct D80 rear decklid spoiler; and a sweet looking T93 blacked out tail light panel hangs above correct Firebird exclusive side splitter stainless exhaust tips.

Lift this Trans Am’s metallic blue hood and you’ll find a freshly restored engine bay which houses the final, and some say greatest, Pontiac block ever created: an original 400 cubic inch W72 V8. By utilizing a thicker casting, chrome moly piston rings, a revised camshaft, a better oil pump, a better distributor and smaller ‘6X’ heads from Pontiac’s own 350 , the W72 created higher compression and successfully reversed almost a decade of declining horsepower numbers. Not only does this car’s engine carry a correct 29N151480 partial VIN and a ’79 W72/4-speed exclusive PWH stamp, it’s also branded with a February (B) 5th (5) of 1977 (7) casting date and an XX481988 casting number which is found exclusively on the beefier W72 blocks. Top dead center on the engine is a correct Rochester 4 -barrel carburetor which sits under the cars awesome shaker scoop and a correct HEI distributor which sends power to the cylinders through Double Silicon Ultimate Heat Protection wires. Below that carburetor, correct GM Corporate Blue paint coats the entire block; and below those plug wires, original cast iron manifolds send spent gases into a high performance factory exhaust system. All the hard parts around the motor, from the belt driven accessories to the brake booster and air conditioning hanging on the fire wall are factory correct, as are the decals and signature satin finish chrome valve covers. The car’s clean engine bay and hood are covered in a nice coat of factory satin black and there’s fresh belts, fresh hoses and even a fresh battery.

Take a look under this F2 Trans Am and you’ll find a straight, rust-free frame which still displays a good amount of GM satin black paint, and clean, original floors which carry absolutely no defect camouflaging undercoating. Behind the motor, a W72-exclusive Borg Warner T10 close ratio 4-speed manual transmission, which wears a January 15th of 1979 build date and a correct 29N151480 partial VIN, sends power to the cars original 10 bolt rear end and optional WS6 ‘special performance’ suspension package. For 1979, Pontiac’s famous WS6 package included larger sway bars, better shocks and springs, a tighter steering gear box and newly designed code J65 power front and rear disc brakes that, when combined with the cars standard power steering, made for serious handling ability and greatly reduced stopping distances. In the middle of the floor pans, a mostly original dual exhaust system, which has been repaired with factory replacement mufflers and correct wrinkle bent tail pipes, sends a deep Pontiac rumble through fresh stainless side splitter exhaust tips. And at the corners of the car, gorgeous 17 inch aluminum Year One snow flake wheels spin beefy Falken Z1EX radials around pristine Trans Am center caps. Overall, this Trans Am’s hardware and bushings appear to be in great shape throughout; and mechanically, the solid undercarriage has held up exceptionally well for a 33 year old pony car.

Take a look inside this Trans Am and you’ll find a stylish and correct 24B/B18 Blue Cloth interior that was completely replaced during the car’s frame up restoration. The firm and comfortable front and rear bucket seats are nice high backed pieces that feature patterned cloth covers inside of pristine stainless trim. Between the seats, a sculpted blue console holds chrome switches for the cars optional A31 power windows behind a chrome Hurst shifter; and at the sides of the seats, awesome carpet and vinyl door panels hang chrome AU3 power door lock switches and fade-free armrests below correct ‘red bird’ Trans Am emblems and pristine stainless trim. At the front of the car, an excellent looking engine turned dash holds crystal clear U17 gauges, which include an optional tic-toc-tachometer, next to controls for the cars heat, option C60 air conditioning and modern Pioneer CD player. And in front of the driver, a striking blue and black NK3 Formula steering wheel is centered behind a correct ‘red bird’ horn button. At the bottom of the cockpit, like-new blue carpet is protected by heavy duty rubber floor mats. At the top of the cockpit, a stain free headliner is stretched tight around the cars dome reading lamp. And at the back of the cockpit, great sounding Earthquake speakers hang over an A90 remote release trunk which includes black carpeting, a correct Space Saver spare tire and a correct and functional TR9 courtesy lamp.

Included with the sale of this freshly restored Trans Am is copy of the cars original window sticker and a booklet for its modern Pioneer CD player.

We’ve featured many of these F2 Trans Ams in the past three years, and without exception, they’ve all sold very quickly. There’s a devoted following who knows these are underrated cars, and numbers matching restorations like this one are becoming increasingly difficult to find. This clean 1979 Trans Am is the perfect opportunity to own a cool car that you can drive, enjoy and build value with at the same time!
